Hey, I’m Levy Lupu — stand-up comedian, podcast host, and full-time fish out of water.I moved to the UK from Romania when I was 17, and I’ve basically been in over my head ever since. Whether it was packing boxes in warehouses, pouring drinks in five-star hotels, or pretending I knew how to use a till in retail — I’ve always been a few steps behind and learning on the job. Now I do stand-up comedy… and somehow that’s where I fit in best.On stage, I look like a Romanian guy who turned up to the wrong event in a suit — like I’m about to give a TED Talk no one asked for. I’m the awkward, nerdy outsider who clearly doesn’t know what the vibe is, and I lean into it. My comedy’s low-energy, dark, and honest — think storytelling with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.I talk about messing up since I came to England, and how I’ve (sort of) learned from it. My material comes from growing up in a small town in northern Romania, dealing with identity, being the underdog, and trying to understand a country that still confuses me on a daily basis.One reviewer said that while my jokes are drawn from a life full of difficult experiences, I come across as silly, likeable, and even heartwarming. I’ll take it — because no one ever calls the confused Romanian guy in a suit “heartwarming.”I host Borderline Podcast Disorder, where I chat with people about the messy, weird, and wonderful parts of life.I was named One to Watch by JW3 and recently made it to the heats for British Comedian of the Year — so things are happening.
